The Key to Staying Active: Support Your Spine, Move Better, Live Better
Summer is a season filled with opportunities to move. Whether it’s traveling with family, gardening, hiking, golfing, or simply spending more time outdoors, staying active allows us to enjoy the moments that make life meaningful.
But increased activity can also place added stress on the body. Long car rides, yard work, repetitive motions, and recreational activities can contribute to stiffness, discomfort, and movement limitations. Many people assume these aches and pains are simply part of getting older or being active. In reality, they may be signs that your body needs attention.

Your spine plays a central role in nearly every movement you make. When your body moves well, it’s easier to stay active, maintain good posture, and participate in the activities you enjoy. Chiropractic care focuses on supporting spinal health, mobility, and overall function to help you live life to its fullest.
At MCR Chiropractic, we believe healthcare should be proactive, not just reactive. Many people wait until discomfort interferes with daily life before seeking care. However, addressing issues early may help improve mobility, reduce stress on the body, and support long-term wellness.

Choose Chiropractic Care Early
Small aches and stiffness can sometimes become larger problems if left unaddressed. Seeking chiropractic care early may help improve joint mobility, support proper movement patterns, and reduce physical stress on the body before limitations impact your lifestyle.
Your chiropractor will evaluate your movement, posture, and spinal health to better understand your individual needs and goals.

Personalized treatment plans may include:
- Chiropractic adjustments to support spinal mobility and function
- Soft tissue techniques to address muscle tension and restrictions
- Corrective exercises and stretching recommendations
- Postural and ergonomic education
- Wellness strategies to support long-term health and movement
Whether you’re preparing for a summer vacation, spending more time in the garden, or enjoying recreational activities, taking care of your spine can help you stay active and engaged in the moments that matter most.

Riding for Those We Love: Supporting the Fight Against Cancer
Every year, thousands of cyclists from across the globe gather in Massachusetts for the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC), united by one mission: raising funds for life-saving cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
At MCR Chiropractic, we believe health extends beyond the walls of our clinics. It means supporting healthier communities, encouraging movement and wellness, and standing beside patients and families during life’s greatest challenges.

As part of the Cypress Health Partners family, MCR Chiropractic proudly supports Bay State Physical Therapy’s role as the Official Physical Therapy Partner of the Pan-Mass Challenge. Together, our organizations share a common mission: helping people live healthier, more active lives through exceptional musculoskeletal care.
This year, members of our broader Cypress Health Partners family once again take on the challenge of riding in honor of loved ones, celebrating survivors, and supporting a future without cancer.
New Year, Stronger Commitment
For the fifth year, our team is honored to ride alongside PMC Pedal Partner, Celia Jan. Diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at just three years old, Celia completed treatment at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in 2023 and is now a thriving eight-year-old in full remission. Her strength, resilience, and joyful spirit remind us why every mile matters.
Cancer touches nearly every family in some way. Some of us have lost loved ones. Others have celebrated survivors. Many know someone currently facing a diagnosis. Through the PMC, we come together in support of them all.
Last year, our largest riding team ever raised more than $85,000 for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This year, we hope to build on that momentum and continue supporting groundbreaking research, treatment, and hope for patients and families.
Below, meet the inspiring members of our 2026 PMC Riding Team and learn why they ride.

Thank You to Our Corporate Sponsors
Every year, we are fortunate to have corporate sponsors join our fundraising efforts. This year, we recognize our Platinum Sponsors, Calera Capital and Core Medical Group, and our Gold Sponsors, Alera Group and McGuire Woods, for standing with us in the fight against cancer. Together, with every rider, volunteer, and supporter, we move closer to a world without cancer.
Our 2026 Bay State Physical Therapy Pan-Mass Challenge Riding Team

Steven Windwer, DC, PT – Founder & Executive Chairman, Bay State Physical Therapy
Second-Year PMC Rider
After nearly 35 years of helping patients live healthier lives, Steven Windwer, DC, PT, is returning for his second Pan-Mass Challenge ride. As Founder and Executive Chairman of Bay State Physical Therapy, Steve has long believed in the power of movement, community, and giving back.
His reason for riding is deeply personal. A close friend was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma, inspiring Steve to join the fight against cancer in a new way.
“I want to be part of a movement that is searching for a cure.”
Throughout training, Steve stays motivated by thinking about his friend and the countless individuals and families impacted by cancer. When he’s not training along the scenic coastline of Newport, Rhode Island, he’s looking forward to the excitement of race day, the support from communities along the course, and the sense of accomplishment that comes with crossing the finish line.

Lexi W., PT, DPT – Managing Partner and Physical Therapist at Bay State PT โ Braintree & Bay State PT โ Boston โ Fort Point
Seventh-Year PMC Rider
Lexi is returning for her seventh year riding with the Bay State Physical Therapy PMC Team. Over the years, the Pan-Mass Challenge has become one of her favorite weekends of the summerโa celebration of hope, resilience, and community.
For Lexi, the cause is deeply personal. As the physical therapist for the team’s longtime Pedal Partner, Celia, she had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the strength and determination of a young girl who battled Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL). Today, Celia is in remission and continues to inspire everyone around her.
“Celia reminds me every day how strong and determined the human spirit can be.”
Lexi rides for loved ones impacted by cancer and for the hope that research and treatment advancements will create more survivors. This year, she’s especially excited to ride the 50-mile route alongside her dad.

Erin Doherty โ Senior Manager, Community & Team Engagement, Cypress Health Partners
Seventh-Year PMC Rider
Nicholas is returning for his fourth year riding with the Bay State Physical Therapy PMC Team. Since joining Bay State, Nick has had the privilege of worErin is returning for her seventh Pan-Mass Challenge ride after first experiencing the event behind the scenes. As part of Bay State Physical Therapy’s partnership with the PMC, she coordinated volunteers providing stretching and recovery services for riders during race weekend. Witnessing the impact of the event firsthand inspired her to sign up the following yearโand she’s been riding ever since.
“Every mile is an opportunity to honor those who are fighting cancer, remember those we’ve lost, and help raise critical funds for the lifesaving research at Dana-Farber. Our biggest inspiration is our Pedal Partner, Celia, whose strength and resilience remind us every day why this ride matters.”
For Erin, the Pan-Mass Challenge is about far more than cycling. She returns each year for the incredible camaraderie of the Bay State Physical Therapy team, the friendships she’s built within the PMC community, and the knowledge that every rider, volunteer, and supporter is making a meaningful difference. When she’s training, you’ll often find her riding along the scenic South Shore through Marshfield, Scituate, Cohasset, and Hull, taking in the ocean views. She’s also the first to laugh about the many “tips” off her bike while learning to clip inโa reminder that every experienced rider starts somewhere.
Erin’s advice to anyone considering the PMC is simple: “It truly is one of the most inspiring and emotional experiences I’ve ever been a part of. You won’t regret it.”

Nicholas R., PT, DPT – Physical Therapist at Bay State Physical Therapy โ Boston – Fort Point
Fourth-Year PMC Rider
Nicholas is returning for his fourth year riding with the Bay State Physical Therapy PMC Team. Since joining Bay State, Nick has had the privilege of working with the team’s Pedal Partner, Celia, whose strength, energy, and joyful spirit continue to inspire every mile he rides.
“Every mile is bigger than me. We train and ride for those who cannot.”
For Nick, the PMC is about much more than cycling. As a physical therapist, he sees the ride as an extension of his work helping people live healthier, more active lives while supporting patients and families affected by cancer.
One of his favorite parts of the PMC is the camaraderie of the Bay State team and the inspiring stories shared throughout race weekend. Of course, not every ride goes according to planโone memorable year, he and his fiancรฉe accidentally collided just 20 yards from the finish line. Fortunately, they got back up and crossed it together.

Taylor H. – Family & Friend of the Bay State Physical Therapy PMC Team
Third-Year PMC Rider
Taylor is returning for her third year riding with the Bay State Physical Therapy PMC Team alongside her fiancรฉ, Nicholas Rajotte, PT, DPT. Her connection to the PMC is deeply personal and rooted in both remembrance and hope.
Taylor rides in memory of her Uncle Tommy, who lost his battle with leukemia at just 22 years old. She is also inspired by the courage of the team’s Pedal Partner, Celia, whose journey reminds riders why every mile matters.
“I ride in memory of my Uncle Tommy, in celebration of survivors like Celia, and in support of everyone whose life has been touched by cancer.”
When training rides become difficult, Taylor reminds herself that the challenge of the ride is nothing compared to the strength of those facing cancer. This year, she’s looking forward to the energy, camaraderie, and shared sense of purpose that make PMC weekend so special.

Thomas R., PT, DPT – Senior Physical Therapist at Bay State Physical Therapy โ Stoughton -Washington Street
Third-Year PMC Rider
Thomas is returning for his third year riding with the Bay State Physical Therapy PMC Team. His journey with the PMC began when he cheered on a fellow Bay State team member and immediately knew he wanted to be part of something bigger than himself.
Since then, his connection to the cause has grown through personal experiences with Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and the many individuals whose lives have been touched by cancer.
“This ride is my chance to give back and ride for those who have lost their battle with cancer, those fighting their battle, and those in future need.”
For Thomas, health is life’s greatest gift. He especially looks forward to hearing the inspiring stories shared throughout PMC weekend and riding past the signs honoring Pedal Partners who remind riders why every mile matters.

Lauren H., PT, DPT – Physical Therapist at Bay State Physical Therapy โ Raynham
Third-Year PMC Rider
Lauren is returning for her third year riding in the Pan-Mass Challenge. Her connection to the cause is shaped by both loss and hopeโa close friend is a stage 4 cancer survivor, while her grandfather and a close family friend both lost their battles with cancer.
“Many people battling cancer don’t have the opportunity to take part in something like this, so I feel grateful to be able to ride in support of them.”
For Lauren, every mile serves as a reminder of why the cause matters and the impact that cancer research can have on patients and families. She loves being outdoors while training and is especially motivated by the incredible support from communities lining the course each year.
After navigating a few unexpected dirt roads during training rides over the years, Lauren has learned that sometimes the detours make the journey even more memorable.

Danica C., PT, DPT โ Physical Therapist at Bay State Physical Therapy โ Cambridge – Central Square
First-Year PMC Rider
For Danica (“Dani”), taking on the Pan-Mass Challenge is about embracing new challenges while supporting a cause that impacts so many lives. A first-time rider, Dani was drawn to the PMC as an opportunity to challenge herself both physically and mentally while beginning her journey into cycling.
“I want to challenge myself, and this will never even be close to as hard as patients with cancer have to fight every day to survive and overcome the many obstacles they face.”
As she trains for her 85-mile ride, Dani has embraced the highs and lows of cyclingโfrom scenic rides along the Minuteman Trail and coffee shop stops to the occasional learning experience, including an unforgettable first long ride mishap. She’s especially excited for her dad to travel from Hawaii to cheer her on at the finish line.
Dani is proud to represent Bay State Physical Therapy and show people what it’s all about: doing hard things, moving our bodies, and supporting causes greater than ourselves.
Building Healthier Communities Together
At MCR Chiropractic, our mission is to help patients regain and maintain optimal health and wellness. Supporting initiatives like the Pan-Mass Challenge reflects our commitment to caring for the communities we serveโnot only through chiropractic care, but through service, advocacy, and compassion.
Whether through movement, preventive care, or supporting causes that matter, we believe small actions can create meaningful change.
If you feel inspired by these stories and would like to support the fight against cancer, we invite you to consider making a donation to the team. Every contributionโno matter the sizeโhelps fund research, treatment, and hope for patients and families facing cancer.
Together, we can move closer to a world without cancer.

Hit the Green This Summer: Tips to Keep Your Golf Game on Par
Summer means longer days, warmer weather, and more time on the golf course. But whether you’re a seasoned golfer or just dusting off the clubs after a long winter, golf places unique demands on the body. The golf swing is a complex movement that requires coordination, balance, flexibility, and mobilityโparticularly through the spine and hips.
It’s no surprise that golf-related aches and injuries are common. Many golfers experience discomfort in the back, shoulders, elbows, wrists, or knees at some point during the season. The good news? Many of these issues may be preventable with proper preparation and attention to your body’s signals.
Six Tips to Keep You on Par
Warm Up Before You Tee Off
Just as professional athletes warm up before competition, golfers should prepare their bodies before stepping onto the first tee. Spend 10 to 15 minutes performing light aerobic activity and dynamic stretches to increase blood flow and prepare your muscles and joints for the rotational demands of the golf swing.

Prioritize Spinal Mobility
Your spine plays a critical role in generating power and maintaining balance throughout your swing. Limited mobility in the neck, mid-back, or lower back can affect mechanics and place additional stress on other areas of the body. Regular stretching, movement, and chiropractic care may help support healthy mobility and function.
Don’t Ignore Aches and Pains
A little soreness after a round may be expected, but persistent pain shouldn’t be ignored. Addressing discomfort early can help prevent minor issues from becoming larger problems that keep you off the course.
Chiropractic care can help improve joint mobility, reduce muscle tension, and support healthy movement patterns so you can continue enjoying the game you love.

Walk When You Can
Walking the course not only keeps your body moving, but it can also improve endurance and cardiovascular health. A typical 18-hole round can add up to five or more miles of walking, making golf a great way to stay active while enjoying the outdoors.
Invest in Proper Equipment
Your clubs aren’t the only equipment that matter. Properly fitted clubs and supportive footwear can improve performance, comfort, and stability while reducing stress on your body.

Ask a Professional
Just as many golfers work with a golf pro to improve their swing, working with a chiropractor can help improve the way your body moves. Chiropractors understand the importance of spinal health, posture, mobility, and movement patterns that support performance and overall wellness.
Insights from a Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) Level 1 Certified Physical Therapist

John Judd, PT, DPT, CSCS
Titleist Performance Institute Certified, Level 1
Physical Therapist and Managing Partner at Bay State Physical Therapy – West Warwick (RI)
“Golf may look leisurely, but it places significant demands on the bodyโespecially the spine. Taking a few minutes to warm up, maintaining mobility, and paying attention to aches and pains can go a long way toward keeping you healthy and active on the course.”
“Don’t ignore discomfort. Addressing stiffness or movement limitations early may help you stay on the course and continue enjoying the activities you love.”
Whether you’re chasing a lower handicap or simply enjoying time outdoors with friends and family, taking care of your spine and overall health is one of the best investments you can make in your game.
Schedule your appointment with MCR Chiropractic today and keep your body moving all golf season long.
