ALEX ALVAREZ, DC
MCR Chiropractic – Dorchester
Alex Alvarez, DC, was born in Santa Clara, Cuba, and raised in Miami, Florida. His interest in chiropractic care began early on after witnessing his mother’s lifelong struggle with severe scoliosis. Hearing about her challenges and seeing firsthand how spinal health could impact daily life sparked his curiosity about the human body. As a baseball player throughout his youth, he sought chiropractic care to enhance his athletic performance and address neck pain from long study sessions. That experience deepened his appreciation for the profession and set him on the path to becoming a chiropractor.
Dr. Alvarez earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Florida International University before attending Life University College of Chiropractic, where he obtained his Doctorate of Chiropractic and became certified by the National Board of Chiropractic Examiners in 2020. His background in psychology gives him a unique perspective on patient care, allowing him to understand not only the physical aspects of pain, but also the mental and emotional components that come with it.
With an evidence-based approach, Dr. Alvarez focuses on restoring mobility by addressing restricted spinal segments through chiropractic adjustments. He believes that proper movement is the foundation for musculoskeletal and nervous system health. His treatments incorporate stretching and strengthening exercises, and soft tissue therapies to promote long-term function and wellness. While his goal is to improve movement and overall function, he also prioritizes helping patients find relief from pain so they can return to the activities they enjoy. Dr. Alvarez primarily utilizes Diversified Chiropractic Technique, a hands-on adjusting method designed to improve joint mobility and alignment. He enjoys working with a diverse range of patients, including athletes of all ages, weekend warriors, students, professionals, musicians, and the general community.
As a Spanish speaker, Dr. Alvarez is also proud to serve the Hispanic community, ensuring that language is never a barrier to quality care. Before joining MCR Chiropractic, Dr. Alvarez served the South Florida community through his own private practice.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Alvarez stays active through weightlifting, long-distance running, and golf. He also prioritizes nutrition, supplementation, and meditation as part of his own wellness routine. A big fan of cinema, he enjoys gaming and spending time with his two rescue pets—Watson, an American Shorthair cat, and Bruce, an American Bulldog mix. Since moving to Boston, he has enjoyed exploring the city and its surroundings, from Newbury Street and Harvard Square to the many golf courses in the area. The Public Garden has become one of his favorite spots to walk and take in the beauty of the city.
